Outsourced SDR by email
Outsourced SDR work by email, with nobody new to hire or manage
We do the email side of the SDR job and book the meetings. We do not make calls or work in your CRM.
The short answer
Should you hire an SDR or outsource it?
A sales development representative, or SDR, fills the top of your pipeline: researching accounts, contacting them by phone, email and social, handling first replies, booking meetings for whoever closes and logging it all in the CRM. A BDR does much the same job, so outsourced BDR usually means the same service.
Hiring one takes more than a salary. You recruit, buy the tools and data, teach the person your market and give up someone senior's time to manage them. It can be months before they book much. When they leave, you start over, and much of what they learned leaves with them.
An outsourced SDR, also sold as SDR as a service, moves that work outside your company, and what is included varies from one provider to the next. We cover the email part: building the list, writing to each company, reading replies and booking the meeting. We make no phone calls and do no CRM work, so if you want someone on the phones every day, hire an SDR or pick a different SDR agency.
The problem
What a first SDR hire runs into
The usual way
- Nobody has defined the territory yet, so the new rep spends the early weeks guessing who to contact.
- A new rep does not know your market, so the first emails come out generic.
- Sending setup falls to a junior person, and one mistake can hit your company's domain.
- The rep takes a week off or resigns, and replies sit unread.
With Ace
This is cold email, done one person at a time. No mass blast, no single template for your whole list.
- We build your list of real buyers
- We write to each person, one by one
- We warm up every inbox first
- A real person reads every reply
Step by step
How it works
- 01
We build your list of real buyers
We start with companies and people who actually match what you sell. Every email address gets verified before we ever write to them.
- 02
We write to each person, one by one
Every email opens with something true about that one company. When there's nothing real to say, we skip it.
- 03
We warm up every inbox first
New mailboxes spend weeks warming up before they send anything to a prospect, and we only raise the volume while bounces and complaints stay low.
- 04
A real person reads every reply
When someone replies with interest, we flag it and get the meeting on your calendar. Nothing here runs on autopilot, and when a lead asks us to stop writing, that's the last email they ever get from us.
Your options
Hiring an SDR compared with outsourcing to us
An in-house SDR does things we do not. Here is what you gain and give up.
| Question | Hiring an SDR | With Ace |
|---|---|---|
| Getting started | Hiring an SDRJob post, interviews, notice period, onboarding | With AceA proposal, then setup and mailbox warm-up |
| Training | Hiring an SDRYour team teaches the market and the offer | With AceWe learn your buyers and your offer from you at the start |
| Day-to-day management | Hiring an SDRSomeone senior coaches the rep | With AceWe run the work, and you take the meetings |
| Phone calls | Hiring an SDRYes, a normal part of the role | With AceNo, email only |
| CRM updates | Hiring an SDRYes, the rep keeps records current | With AceNo, that stays with your team |
| What stays in your company | Hiring an SDRA person who knows your accounts and can grow into sales | With AceLess of that, because the knowledge sits with us |
Example
A first email to a company about to hire an SDR
Subject: your SDR opening
Hi Nadia, saw Brackenfield Freight posted its first SDR role this week, reporting straight to you.
A first SDR usually means training and managing on top of your own targets. We can take the email side of that job now and book the calls.
Worth comparing the two on a short call before you start interviewing?

Fit
An outsourced SDR makes sense if
- You need meetings and are not ready to recruit and manage a rep.
- A past SDR hire left or did not work out.
- Email is a sensible way to reach your buyers.
- Someone on your team can already run the sales calls.
Hire an SDR instead if
- You want someone calling prospects every day.
- You need a rep working in your CRM and joining pipeline meetings.
- You want to grow future account executives from within.
- You need outreach on several channels from one person.

What does an SDR agency do?
It does the first-contact work of a sales development rep as an outside service. Some SDR agencies call as well as email, so ask which channels are in scope.
Is SDR as a service the same as outsourced sales development?
Yes, in practice. Both names, along with sales development agency, describe an outside company doing this work for a fee. The scope is what differs, so read what each one includes.
Can you work alongside an SDR we already have?
Yes. Your SDR can keep the calls and the CRM while we handle cold email. Agree who owns which accounts first, so nobody hears from both of us.
When is hiring an SDR the better choice?
When calling matters, when you want someone learning your market for years or when you plan to build a sales team from within.
