Instantly vs Smartlead, compared job by job with dated prices

Instantly and Smartlead both send email at volume from unlimited mailboxes. They differ in what each plan includes and in how an agency pays for its clients.

ByAsier Mugica· Founder of Ace Digital

Many of the pages that rank for Instantly vs Smartlead are published by another vendor in the same market, and the prices they quote do not always match the vendors' own pages. This one compares the two by the job you need done, using only each vendor's own pages, help articles and plan summaries, read on 4 November 2026. Instantly is the product many people search for as Instantly AI. Our bias, stated once: we sell a done-for-you service, which appears near the end as one option.

How do Instantly and Smartlead differ at a glance?

Instantly and Smartlead are both built to send email at volume from many connected mailboxes, and both include unlimited email accounts and warm-up on every plan. The real differences are in what each tier adds: API and webhooks, CRM, how replies are handled and how an agency pays to give clients their own space. The table compares them job by job, from each vendor's own pages in November 2026.

How do the two handle mailboxes and warm-up?

Instantly and Smartlead both let you connect as many Google, Outlook or other mailboxes as you need without paying per account, and both warm them up automatically on every plan. Instantly's warm-up page describes a slow ramp and read emulation; Smartlead's describes a private pool of vetted senders and a pause when bounces or spam flags spike. Both also sell ready-made mailboxes.

  • Instantly. Its warm-up page describes a slow ramp that starts with 2 warm-up emails on day one and adds 2 a day, read emulation that scrolls through warm-up messages like a person, and a dashboard that shows when an account is ready to send. Its plan summary lists unlimited accounts and automated warm-up on all plans.
  • Smartlead. Its warm-up page describes a private pool that admits only vetted senders, a ramp profile per mailbox, and an automatic pause and cool-down after bounce spikes or spam flags. Its pricing page ties the pool to the plan: Foundation on Base, Growth on Pro and Premium on the two Unlimited plans.
  • Buying mailboxes. In November 2026, Instantly listed done-for-you Google accounts at $5 a month, pre-warmed Google accounts at $10 and domains at $15 a year (Instantly plan summary). Smartlead listed fresh Google mailboxes at $4.50 a month plus $13 a year per domain, and pre-warmed ones at $9 plus $18 (Smartlead pricing).
  • A pre-warmed mailbox skips the warm-up wait. The domain still needs its own SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and the list still decides how many people mark you as spam.

What does each tool offer for deliverability?

Instantly and Smartlead both sell deliverability extras on top of warm-up: placement tests that show whether a message reached the inbox or spam, and dedicated sending servers and IPs for high volume. Neither can promise inbox placement, because that depends on your domain authentication, your list and how recipients react to what you send.

  • Instantly. Its inbox placement page describes tests sent to seed inboxes at Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo that report inbox, promotions tab or spam, with 2 free tests before you pay. The Light Speed plan adds SISR, which assigns dedicated servers and IP blocks and swaps out flagged IPs, and Enterprise adds a private deliverability network (Instantly pricing).
  • Smartlead. SmartDelivery, its placement-testing add-on, started at $49 a month for 120 sequence tests in November 2026. SmartServers cost $39 per server a month with a dedicated IP, as an add-on from Pro, and Unlimited Prime includes 3 (Smartlead pricing).
  • What no tool does for you. Google's sender guidelines ask every sender to Gmail for SPF or DKIM and a spam rate below 0.3% in Postmaster Tools, and senders of more than 5,000 messages a day for SPF, DKIM and DMARC with the From domain aligned. Those records live on your domains; SPF, DKIM and DMARC explained walks through each one.
  • The list matters as much. Warm-up and dedicated IPs cannot stop people who never needed what you sell from marking you as spam. Verify addresses, write to buyers you can name and keep a suppression list that every campaign respects.

How does sending rotate across mailboxes?

Instantly and Smartlead both rotate sending across the mailboxes assigned to a campaign, so no single address carries the whole volume. Instantly documents two daily caps that work together, one per mailbox across all campaigns and one per campaign, and Smartlead says it spreads volume evenly across every connected mailbox in the campaign.

  • Instantly. Its help article on inbox rotation says an active plan lets you assign unlimited accounts to one campaign and alternates sends between them. Remove an account from the campaign and another takes over; if an account is disconnected, the campaign waits for it until you remove it. Its article on account and campaign limits explains the two caps: one per account across every campaign, one per campaign across its accounts.
  • Smartlead. Its pricing FAQ says sending rotates automatically across all mailboxes connected to a campaign, to spread volume and protect each sender's reputation.
  • In both, rotation spreads the volume you set. It does not decide how much each mailbox should send, so start each one at a modest daily cap and raise it only while bounces and complaints stay low.

Where do replies land, and who can answer them?

Instantly and Smartlead both gather replies from every connected mailbox into one inbox, so nobody has to log in to dozens of accounts. Instantly calls it Unibox and, on its entry Growth plan, shows replies in preview only; full replies from Unibox start at Hypergrowth. Smartlead's master inbox page lists tagging, assignment to teammates and internal notes.

  • Instantly. Its plan summary lists Unibox as preview-only on Growth, and full in-app replies with custom reply labels from Hypergrowth. The AI Reply Agent, which handles replies, draws on Instantly credits, 5 per reply generated, rather than on the outreach plan.
  • Smartlead. Its unified inbox page describes filters by campaign, tag or reply type, bulk actions, automatic tags for out-of-office, bounce and unsubscribe replies, replies pushed to the CRM with the full thread, and Slack alerts.
  • Whichever you pick, decide who reads replies and how fast. Automatic tags are a first pass; a person should read every reply that could be a buyer or a request to stop writing.

Which one suits an agency running many clients?

Smartlead prices agency work per client: white-labeled client workspaces cost $29 a month each from the Pro plan, with 3 included on Unlimited Prime (Smartlead pricing). Instantly includes a white-label client portal on Hypergrowth and Light Speed, but its help center allows one portal per workspace, and each extra workspace needs its own subscription.

  • Instantly white label. Its help article on agency white labeling covers a client login on your own subdomain with your logo, and access you choose to campaigns, Unibox, analytics, CRM and block list. A client who can see campaigns sees every campaign in that workspace, so keeping clients apart means one workspace, and one subscription, per client.
  • Smartlead white label. Its pricing FAQ says the add-on lets an agency brand the platform as its own and run each client in a separate workspace, from the Pro plan up.
  • API. Smartlead's pricing lists API and webhooks from Pro, not on Base, and its API page allows up to 25 named keys. Instantly's plan summary says API access is on all plans and webhooks start at Hypergrowth, while the comparison table on its pricing page ticks API, webhooks and integrations only for Hypergrowth. If an integration depends on it, get the answer from Instantly in writing before buying Growth.
  • Cost per client. Model it at your real number of clients: Smartlead adds $29 per workspace, Instantly a full subscription per separated workspace.

How much do Instantly and Smartlead cost per plan?

In November 2026, Instantly's outreach plans started at $47 a month on monthly billing and Smartlead's at $39. Both cap two things per plan, emails sent a month and contacts held, and the caps differ at every tier, so compare the plan that covers both of your numbers rather than the entry price. Prices were read on Instantly's pricing page and Smartlead's pricing page on 4 November 2026; Smartlead says yearly billing saves 17%.

  • Instantly's pricing page disagrees with itself on one number: the Hypergrowth card and its plan summary say 125,000 emails a month, while the comparison table says 100,000. Get the figure confirmed before you size a campaign on it. Enterprise is priced on request.
  • Lead data is a separate purchase at Instantly: credits plans, from $47 a month for Growth Credits, search its database of more than 450 million B2B leads (Instantly pricing). At Smartlead, verified prospect emails are a $59 monthly add-on on Base and Pro and included on the two Unlimited plans (Smartlead pricing).
  • Trials. Instantly's plan summary lists a 14-day free trial with no card, capped at 250 uploaded contacts and 1,000 emails. Smartlead's pricing page lists a free trial on every plan with no card required.

What do G2 reviews say about Instantly and Smartlead?

On G2, read on 4 November 2026, Instantly averaged 4.8 out of 5 from 4,165 reviews and Smartlead 4.5 out of 5 from 461 (Instantly on G2, Smartlead on G2). Both scores pool every plan and use case, so they tell you how satisfied users are overall, not which tool fits your volume, your team or your clients.

  • G2's own summary of the reviews lists ease of use among the strengths of both.
  • Among the drawbacks, it lists price, missing features and email management for both, plus a learning curve and email issues for Instantly, and warm-up issues and poor customer support for Smartlead, whose strengths also include customer support.
  • Read reviews from teams your size, written in the last year, because both products change their plans and features often.
  • Search the reviews for the job you need, such as white label, API or warm-up, instead of relying on the average.

What if neither Instantly nor Smartlead fits?

If Instantly and Smartlead both fall short, the reason points to the alternative. Teams that need LinkedIn steps and calls in the same sequence look at multichannel tools such as lemlist; teams that want contact data and sequences in one product look at Apollo; teams that do not want to run outbound software at all hire a service.

  • lemlist vs Instantly. lemlist's Email plan was $69 a month, or $55 billed yearly, with unlimited users and senders and 50,000 emails a month. Its Multichannel plan, $109 a month or $87 billed yearly and priced by users, adds LinkedIn automation, SMS and a built-in dialer (lemlist pricing).
  • More Instantly alternatives, grouped by the job, are in our guide to Reply.io alternatives, which covers Woodpecker, Apollo, Mailshake, Outreach and HubSpot sequences with dated prices.
  • No tool at all. Ace Digital's booked meetings service builds a verified list of buyers, writes each email for one company, sends from separate domains and mailboxes warmed up for weeks, and has a person read every reply. A cold email agency is the wider category; ask who owns the domains, the lists and the copy before you sign.
  • If you are still deciding whether the channel fits you, what cold email is and how it works covers the basics first.

How do you choose between Instantly and Smartlead?

Choose between Instantly and Smartlead by writing down four numbers, your monthly sends, contacts, mailboxes and clients, then the features you need on day one: webhooks, CRM sync, full replies from the unified inbox or white label. Price the plan that covers those in each tool, then run one real campaign on a 14-day trial.

  • Model the price at today's volume and at twice that. The Smartlead vs Instantly gap changes at every tier, and at 500,000 emails a month the cheaper plan was Instantly's.
  • Agencies: add the cost per client, $29 per Smartlead workspace or one Instantly subscription per separated workspace.
  • Confirm the two points where Instantly's page is unclear, Hypergrowth's email volume and API access on Growth, before you sign.
  • Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC on every sending domain and import your suppression list before the first send.
  • Write the first sequence with cold email templates as a starting point, then rewrite each email for the company it goes to.

Is Instantly free to use?

Is Instantly worth it?

Instantly is worth paying for if its plan limits match your job. The $47 Growth plan covers 5,000 emails and 1,000 contacts, with Unibox in preview only; full replies, webhooks, CRM and client portals start at Hypergrowth, $107 a month in November 2026. Do Instantly and Smartlead work with Google Workspace and Outlook?

Yes. Instantly's warm-up page says it warms any account you connect, including Google Workspace and Outlook mailboxes, and Smartlead's warm-up page says you can connect Gmail, Outlook or SMTP accounts. Both also sell ready-made mailboxes, so you can buy sending accounts inside the tool instead of setting them up yourself.

Do I still need SPF, DKIM and DMARC with Instantly or Smartlead?

Yes. The records live in the DNS of each sending domain, and no sending tool can pass authentication for a domain that lacks them. Google's sender guidelines ask every sender to Gmail for SPF or DKIM, and senders of more than 5,000 messages a day for all three, with the From domain aligned.
